Black soap has been made traditionally in West Africa for hundreds of years. The process starts with sun-drying plantain peels, coco pods, palm tree leaves, and camwood bark. After those key ingredients are dried they are then roasted in a fire and turned into ash. The ash is then mixed into shea butter, palm oil, and coconut oil. The mixture is cooked and hand-stirred for up to 24 hours. It is then removed and left to cure. Natural black soap is best used to treat acne or oily skin.
This specific formula my brother painstakingly concocted after many different trials, it’s my favorite black soap.
